Yes, this is a continuation from the first two "Life is Amazing" posts, and yes life is, and always will be, amazing. In those first two posts in this three part series, I spoke of the troubles I was having with my dog. Fortunatly, and unfortunatly, those troubles are in the past. On Wednesday, we had to put my dog to sleep. Dante was a beagle, and died at the young age of nine. He has been a companion, a company when I was in charge of an empty house watching movies late into the night, and a friend that wouldn't ever have the chance or ability to share my secrets or get mad if I said something wrong. He always had unconditional love for me, and every person he ever met (though he was antisocial when it came to other dogs). He never learned any tricks (other than knowing to come when I said "treat"), and was not always the brightest dog. He was over weight and had a slight pot bellie, but I loved him and he loved me.
My family and I live on a path than many a person and/or animal travel on. When ever a dog would come in our yard from that path, no matter how much bigger they were than Dante, he would howl and howl and chase them away. One time he chased away a couple of cayotes. He was an outside dog, but just recently we had started bringing him inside when he was cold so he could sit with us and watch TV or movies. Then, during the warmer seasons, we would eat outside on our porch and he would join us to beg food off us.
I loved my dog very much, and I will miss him so very much it is hard to even begin imagining, but as my friend Jake says: "life goes on". Not only does it go on, but life is amazing!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a wonderful May!
Lizzie~
P.S. On a much lighter note, Prom is tomorrow, and I am so excited!

Hi Lizzie, Yes, it's been quite a while for me - I haven't been feeling too good and have been busy. Thank you for your kind words - I'm glad you don't mind writing back and forth with an older person. I'm so sorry about the loss of your beloved friend Dante. It sounds as if he had a very important place in your life. A few years ago we had to have our little dog put to sleep and we were very sad. My husband couldn't even talk about her without crying. We stayed home from work that day and our friends gave us condolence cards. It was an unpleasant time for us. So I know what you are feeling. As I've said before, talk to your family and friends about your feelings. If you share them with others, it won't feel quite so bad. In time the hurt will dull and you'll think happily about Dante. Again, I'm very sorry. I'm glad you'll have the Prom to take your mind off of things. I'll bet you've got a pretty dress and nice flowers. I remember I made my dress for my first prom - times have changed! Hope you have a wonderful time and dance all the dances. Write and let us all know how your big evening was. Bye for now, Alyssa
Of course if you ask me to give you a few days, you know I will! I am always here if and when you want to talk. Just gimme a call! Ugh, it's raining again! But I love the rain! I hope you had fun at Prom! I have a new post all about Anti-Prom, but I'll give you more details tomorrow. Well, I have some AP Chem I should be doing, so I'll catch you tomorrow.
Loves,
Ashley
Ugh, I just reread my last comment. Sorry about the excessive use of exclaimation points. I am still very tired, and therefore semi-slap-happy. You know how I get...
I'm so sorry for you, I know what it is, I lost a cat (10) like that, I was so sad ...
With love !
Hi Lizzie, Thank you for commenting and your good wishes. I'll answer your questions - remember no question is stupid - that's how we learn. Shingles is the chicken pox virus that went dormant and stays in the nerves. When it reappears years later, it's called shingles and is very painful. Before the rash shows, the skin hurts real much (it's not red or anything - can't tell what the problem is)and then about 5 days later the blisters form. Ugh!The rash is only on one side of the body and runs along the nerves. I was somewhat lucky as mine wasn't as bad as some people. It takes a month or so to go away and usually doesn't reappear. Shingles isn't catching but someone who didn't get the chicken pox when young, if they came in contact with the blisters (ugh, again)would get chicken pox! Weird hey? Mine is healing nicely but I still have pain in my leg on and off. About the voles. They are alot like mice except larger and burrow under and atop the ground. The bad thing about them compared to mice is they eat the roots and tubers of any plant or tree. They can kill an entire apple orchard! I'm afraid mice could get caught in the traps but they aren't in the gardens much. I was more worried about toads, birds, cats and such. Well I've got to get to work (I was off for 3days with my illness). I hope that answers your questions and don't be afraid to ask more. I like answering them. Talk to you soon, Alyssa
Hey Lizze.
I finally found time to follow your instructions and read these blogs. I am still very sad, and it's very depressing how random things make him pop up into my mind. Now, I will give you a summary of Slugger, because he deserves it.
Slugger:
Nmaed after the 'Lousville Slugger' Baseball bat, 'cuz we bought him in Louisville.
The story of his purchase:
My mom and her friend were looking for a dog for my mom's friend. THere were some puppies that were all like,"adopt me!" but mom's friend didn't see any she liked. Mom did, though. When she stood 3 feet away, all of the puppies went wild except one (slugger.) It wasn't until she got to a foot away that that one joined the others in barking madly. She stepped away, and he went down, while his brothers/sisters kept jumping.
That day she decided that was the dog my dad needed, so a few days later, we bought him.
He was a good dog, smart, a frisbee dog, and he could shake. Over the years it became my duty to feed him and take care of him. Although he was extremely good at rolling in nasty things, I loved him like none other.
He died at 11 years old, supposedly feeling no pain at all.
Thanks for reading this long essay-like comment, Lizzie
